Baptism As a church, we are committed to living out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. The baptism of those who have put their faith and trust in Christ is a joyful and wonderful occasion in the life of the church and in the life of the Christian believer. Baptism marks a significant public occasion for those who have committed their lives to Christ and seek to be one of his disciples and faithful followers. In baptism, Christians make firm promises and commitments including the following:- Do you turn to Christ as Saviour? Do you submit to Christ as Lord? Do you come to Christ, the way, the truth and the life? For families who are committed to regular worship at St Columba, we also offer infant baptism. Parents make similar promises, along with godparents. These include:- Will you pray for him, draw him/her by your example into the community of faith and walk with him/her in the way of Christ? Will you care for him/her and help him/her to take his place within the life and worship of Christ’s Church? For those who are not presently committed followers of Jesus, we’d love to get to know you and you’d be most welcome to come along and meet us at one of our worship services.
